Carillon Forest quarterly meeting
January 31, 2013
Residents in attendance: Robert Thorpe, Steve Sinclair, Gabriel Liberty, Eric Ferreri, Henry and Ying Lin, Nick Burton.
Carillon Forest HOA officers present: Gabriel Liberty, president, Nick Burton, vice president, Eric Ferreri, secretary.
Note: Board treasurer Robert Wade has resigned.
For discussion – DR Horton’s departure and how do we hold them accountable. We’re going to talk to John Nance, a regional DR Horton official, very soon. We’ll talk about lighting, particularly the lack of lighting on Katie, Alman and Kilgo. There appears to be pre-wiring for some streetlights along those roads, but we’re waiting to hear from DR Horton when the lights will be up.
Also, we need Horton to officially transfer the rights to the retention pond to us. One resident has a concern about homeowners dumping lawn/yard debris in the retention pond.
Other issues to bring up with DR Horton before they leave the neighborhood:
Drainage issues in the yards of several homes along Albritton Drive. The city is involved with this as well.
We also have had drainage issues in common areas like Few Circle and at the playground.
Cleanup – Specifically the orange barriers and other construction materials, debris in the common areas, woods, etc. We’d like them to make a pass through the neighborhood and make sure there’s no hazardous materials. If residents know of examples, please let us know.
Spray-painted trees. We’ve seen some with green circles on them on common area buffer along Randolph Road.
Summary: We will request a walk-through with DR Horton officials before they officially leave the neighborhood. Nick Burton and Steve Sinclair have indicated an interest in taking part in this walkthrough.
In 2013, our beautification efforts will probably center on either shade or trees at the playground and/or an improvement effort at the corner of Keohane and Harkness.
A resident suggests decorating the two neighborhood entrances each December with holiday lighting or displays.
Another resident has suggested a holiday light/home decoration contest.
For both of these ideas: We encourage residents to speak up and get involved with the social committee.
A board member raises the ongoing issue of street parking, which is not allowed under our neighborhood guidelines. Some cars are still parked along some of our streets, though it appears fewer people are doing so.
The HOA board still needs an additional member. Anyone interested? We have had one person indicate his interest and we’ll contact him to follow up.
Meeting adjourns at 7:45 p.m.
