Carillon Forest Annual Meeting
Nov. 1, 2012
Board members present – Gabriel Liberty, president, Nick Burton, vice president, Eric Ferreri, secretary.
Board members absent – Robert Wade, treasurer
We have a quorum.
-- Last year’s annual meeting minutes, posted online, are approved.
-- Annual budget for next year:
Highlights – HOA dues will remain $35 a month.
Changes – We are paying for some improvements to the entrances that we did this year in the next year.
Also – Albritton Circle improvements and playground drainage/mulching were the two major projects.
-- We have also spent money this year on downed trees and a sprinkler system controller that broke and had to be replaced.
-- We are budgeting $18,000 for enhancements for the next year. The grounds committee will take the lead on those decisions.
-- Budget approved unanimously, with Joyce Thorpe making the motion and Rob Fowler seconding it.
-- Gabriel asks whether anyone wants to join the board. Nobody volunteers.
-- Dina Niblock and Mara Deutsch discussed joining Porch Durham, a project to collect food for youngsters in the community who need it. All you have to do is put food out on your porch once a month and it will be collected.
-- In the next year, the Grounds Committee will focus on the shade issue at the playground. There’s no shade there and it’s hard to use in the summer. The committee will consider tree plantings or perhaps a shade structure.
-- One addition to landscaping next year will be a fire ant treatment, particularly on the common area at the playground.
-- A resident asked about lighting on Kilgo and some other areas of the neighborhood that are quite dark. The HOA board has discussed getting extra lighting and will continue to in the next year, particularly as streets like Kilgo are fully built and occupied. It would cost the neighborhood $1,500 per light to add lights and require a petition as well.
-- The HOA sent a letter in early autumn asking residents to take more responsibility for their property. It appears to have had an effect. Generally speaking, properties are looking better.
Meeting adjourned, 8:07 p.m.
