* First discussion is on recent inquiries about privacy fencing along Randolph Road.
Would it cut down on burglaries and prowlers creeping into the backyards of homes
backing up to Randolph? Some believe it is just the opposite, that it would provide
cover for criminals looking to get into those homes.
* Now that DR Horton is just about done in the neighborhood, we need to determine
what last-minute fixes we need them to take care of. They’ll be removing the sale
sign at the end of Kilgo once the last home under contract is sold. There are some
pipes that need covering at the foot of Kilgo and there are some other issues as
well. In addition, the city needs to be alerted about some sewer screens and other
matters. One resident mentioned some broken sidewalks.
* Maintenance company problems – We’ve had some issues with the landscaping
company. We don’t have quite the personal attention we’d like, and there are weeks
when our lawn isn’t cut – because of weather or other reasons – and it isn’t made
right until the next week.
* We need to start taking care of the common area in the square between Alman/
Harkness/Kilgo/Katie. We need to add that to our landscaper’s duties, which is
another reason the board is going to reassess its landscaping contract.
* The path to nowhere. Rachel Cummings would like to do something with the
common space on Harkness across from Deeds. There’s a path there that goes
nowhere, rimmed on both sides by trees including crepe myrtles. Rachel believes
the best solution is eliminating one row of threes that creates the shaded path and
plant grass and extend the field there. We might even be able to move the trees and
plant them elsewhere.
* A resident raises concerns about unkempt homes and yards and what to do about
it. The board can’t police the entire neighborhood proactively, but it can respond
to complaints about overgrown and unkempt lawns. But the board also feels that it
doesn’t want to be too aggressive about it and is careful about how unkempt a lawn
has to be to warrant a warning letter.
But the board sent a form letter a year ago to all residents reminding people to keep
up their properties, and it got results. The board will do it again in the next month or
so.
* Our annual meeting will be held in November and we’re looking for topics people
might like to discuss there. If anyone has a request or concern that should be
addressed at the annual meeting, please let the HOA board know.
